Friday-Sunday: The CrossFit Games 2011
(If you skip reading this post, just know you can and should watch the 2011 CrossFit Games all weekend HERE. Kick off is Friday 7 am with an Ocean Swim WOD!)
I’ve already written a little about the evolution of the CrossFit Games in a previous post. As a result of the phenomenal growth of CrossFit – the philosophy, the community, and the business – this year’s Games are BIG. Big, anyway, for the competitors who have done it since the old days (and a mere three years ago counts as the old days for CF!). Last year was the first year with outside sponsorship, and this year it got big with Reebok stepping in. For the first time, competitors are getting swag! We’ve come a long way since the dusty ranch days.
Held at the Home Depot Center in Carson this weekend, the 2011 CrossFit Games will be livestreamed on the Games site and ESPN3 will stream “prime coverage” in the evening.
Friday 7am-9pm
Saturday 8am-9pm
Sunday 8am-4pm
Each day this week, CrossFit HQ has slipped little bits of info giving hints of what’s in store for the weekend. The Master’s events have been announced, and man are there some tough workouts for the 45-60+ year old set. A new scoring system has been put in place, and for the team events will make for an exciting battle. And, for the first time, the Games events will involve swimming!
Check the Games site regularly (Games.CrossFit.com) for announcements and updates, and watch the Games live.
